Due to the closure of W.114th Street for student move-out day and for Commencement, there will be no Offsite deliveries made on Fri. 5/16 and Wed. 5/21. Continue to place your requests, but factor in an additional day’s delivery time for these dates. If it’s an emergency, please contact us and we’ll see if there’s anything we can do to expedite things.

The music publisher Henle has an interesting video on their site, which details the classic music engraving process (using metal plates). Have a look here.

Music Dept. Ph.D. Yelena Grinberg will perform in a concert at Merkin Hall, on Sunday, 4/27 at 8pm. More details available at this link. She can also be heard performing Rachmaninoff, Liszt, Brahms, and others, on CD13034 in the collection of the Music & Arts Library. Recordings circulate to students, faculty, and staff for 2 weeks.

The Columbia University Libraries subscribe to a variety of digital music databases, which can be accessed from any computer in the Libraries, or from off-campus (by full-time students, faculty and staff). These sites offer streaming audio access to classical, jazz, popular, and world music. Many of the sites contain additional content, such as libretti, biographies, playlists, and more. All can be accessed by title through the “Databases” link on Library Web, or by selecting “E-Music” from the “E-Resources” drop-down menu from the main Library Web page (or, follow the links below). On Friday, May 10th, at 7pm, the Music & Arts Library’s own Aaron Meicht will be featured in a concert in the Experimental Music Series at St. Mark’s Church in the East Village, 131 E. 10th St. (at 2nd Ave). Other featured artists are Paula Mathussen and Gisburg.

Aaron has 2 CD’s available in the Library’s collection: CD13760, “Dig the sound live”, and CD13759, “Loud like hemlocks”. Check them out! (Recordings circulate for 2 weeks to Columbia affiliates)

Most of our books, scores, and recordings circulate. Most books and scores circulate on a semester loan, and most recordings circulate for 2 weeks, to students, staff and faculty of Columbia University.
